I was a little more nervous than usual, i always get nervous… always, but I don’t shoot in clients homes as often as I do in the great out doors, so it adds another eliminate of surprise. And you don’t know if your clients will lie to you and tell you there are no windows in the nursery (wink wink)

The surprise was a pleasant one. The door was answered by the cutest pregnant gal I’ve ever seen (see for yourself below). There were kittens, deer heads, and wouldn’t you know, we found a window with warm beautiful light streaming in.

The adventure continued at the park, where we added an ice creme truck (because you can’t let that opportunity pass you by. EVER.) and we ended the session in the lake. Because my clients are cool like that.

Most people (including myself) don’t walk around laughing for no good reason, especially when a camera is around. My first instinct is to hide! If that fails, I give a cheesy grin and get it over with. Its no different in my sessions, I don’t say, ok, start laughing and be happy, and I’ll skip around and make magic happen. No. Quite the opposite. I try to make the most awkward situation possible, so awkward that my clients can’t help but laugh. Thats when I capture the magic.

I have to give a shout out to my freakin rad husband. He is the king of awkwardness. He can create an awkward situation at any moment, watch out. It’s truly an art form.

Luckily he has rubbed off on me over the years and I have been able to hone in his talents and apply them during sessions.

So if your thinking of hiring me, I hope you have a sense of humor, and don’t take me to seriously. We really will have a fantastic time together. I promise. Oh, and you’ll get some amazing pictures as a bonus.

i’m catching up on some of my favorite sessions that i have yet to blog about. can you say procrastination. or 3 kids works. how ever you see it.

i love this family. everything about them. remember this, and this. seriously good times we’ve had.

i just noticed, we always seem to get some amazing silhouette shots during our sessions. and lets not forget some incredible flare.

Spring

i’m not gonna lie. my kiddos haven’t seen the Nikon in… lets just say it’s been awhile. i’m kinda obsessed with my iphone camera at the moment, and can’t justify lugging a giant DSLR around in my bag, when I have a 25lb babe hooked to my hip. come say hi if you’re on instagram: auburnsoul

side note: yes, the babe finally learned to walk (after 15 months) he had 1 month of joyous freedom, but now he insists to be toted around all hours of the day. i don’t know?!?

back to the topic at hand.

it was a dreary morning. by afternoon the sun was peeking through the clouds. i slipped on my boots, grabbed Nikon and the littles and we headed out to play.

after numerous failed attempts of getting the babe infront of the camera (he’s pretty fast these days, and loves to be close to momma). He decided folding his arms like his big brother would be kinda cool. So he joined his siblings for the last shot.

side note: this is the old road to my house. shortly after we moved in, they built a new road and closed this one down. so sad. it really is pretty.

Seeing Green

Today I baked a cake.

It was pretty so I thought I would share.

The inside has a special “green” surprise for the kids!

Hope you all have a great St.Patty’s day! It’s one of my favorite holidays…. who am I kidding, every holiday is my favorite holiday.

But I do love me some GREEN! So this one is up there at the top of the list.

p.s. Dan informed me that, what I thought was a pretty little clover a top my cake, was in fact a weed. But honestly, I don’t care. It’s cute. And a little weed never hurt anyone lol.
