We had 3 days of school canceled this week due to ice and a 4th day due to SNOW!!!
I’m not complaining, I’ve done a lot of reading and my house is litterally covered in TOYS!!! The kids have had a blast.
Today the sun is up and I thought I would share a session from last year.
It was the end of summer, she sunflowers were in full bloom, the weather was warm, and I was SO pregnant!
I love the McDowells. They were my 1st clients EVER! This is my 3rd year photographing their amazing family.

love this session. love that it looks like film (is it?). love that the session was in their bed. have a soft spot for the big pile of boys — who are quite obviously crazy-happy to be exactly where they are. love.
It is absolutely my favorite session. Ever. Out of all the photographs you have snapped of my family, that is my fave. To me, it feels so us. Laid back. Comfy. A little crazy and a little sweet. Love you steph! Thanks for capturing my sweet family.

The ONLY thing I back up is my pics. BUMMER, so I lost all my docs, editing pre-sets and actions, programs… everything that I have collected over the last 3 years.
It’s all gone.
But I didn’t cry. It’s kinda refreshing to start over from scratch, a clean slate. It feels good.
The most important things (my photos) are safe. Thats all that matters.
So I’m starting over. It’s going to be a slow and painful process.
Please learn from my mistake. BACK UP EVERYTHING.

OH NO!!!!! Did you lose your recent senior shoot? I’m sick for you – but love your “fresh start” attitude. Totally agree that its the perfect opportunity for a new beginning. And, you are such a natural/organic/fresh photographer — who needs all those actions anyway?

ooooh….love that haystack shot w/ them on either side and that amazing yellow sun behind them. think it would be really awesome to have a picture of my parents like that.
I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty much obsessed with reality TV… and Oprah, but thats another post.
I just love getting little glimpses into another persons life
To see how they live, how they decorate, and what they do on a daily basis
I love looking at model homes, just to see how they are decorated
And I love visiting the homes of friends and neighbors, checking out the floor plans, how they set up their family room, and what they hang on their walls.
Is that totally weird?
So I thought I would share my space with y’all
And because I’m trying to document more of my everyday life… here is a little glimpse into mine and a little about me.
First of all, I love a good deal, I love old things, and I like things simple.
I recently ditched my big beautiful hardwood desk for this, darling little new one…. well actually, it’s pretty old.
My bestie refinished it over the summer. Is she talented or what!
True, it’s the holiday season, but I REALLY like the lights

The chair was a yard sale find for $5!
It was ug-llly! But had potential.
A new coat of paint, sanding, staining, and a fat square to cover the cushion and it’s cute as can be!
“S” mug was a gift for my 30th. From Anthropology. Love that store.
For the mouse pad, I used a scrap of fabric, iron on adhasive, and gluded that baby to my ugly old mouse pad.
Lovely.
Now, I just need to have my dear husband drill a hole in the back of the right drawer to pull my cords threw
and my space will be complete!
Side Note:
This space doesn’t always look like this.
It’s usually covered by papers, bills, todo lists, my planner (I like paper planners, digital just isn’t the same)
My file folders are busting at the seams since I’m in charge of the finances in our family
Managing my own business, some rental properties, and one, two, three… four of Dans businesses
Also not shown are the stains in the carpet, the slew of sea creatures, legos, cars, and princesses scattered across the floor, and a pile of books as high as my knees
(Dan likes to read and we could really use a book shelf)
This is my life.
My new years goal is to share more of it.

I really like to see glimpses into peoples homes and lives too. I think it’s interesting. Your desk is so cute. I love it. Refinished furniture has so much more personality! I like the whole set up. very nice!

I have always LOVED touring model homes just for the fun of it, so no it is not weird. My mom and I do it when we visit each other. I also got paid to photograph model homes for a builder for a while. Your photography is beautiful and your space is SO cute!!

Hello. I found your website a couple of years ago, when I was getting married – our videographer was Nathan Pickett – he mentioned you on several posts on his site and ever since I’ve just kept looking at your work. I think you do a fabulous job. I also think that I’m friends with one of your sister’s best friends – wierd I know, small world – I’m friends with Chelsi Hadfield. I went to Northridge High School and graduated 2001. Anyway.. I am not much of a commenter on photography blogs (I’m not sure why not! I love photography), I’m more of a foodie… oh man, I’m rambling – the point I’m trying to make is this:
Your kids are ridiculously adorable, I mean, they are two of the cutest little kids I’ve seen! You are so talented, and I absolutely LOVE this post. My favorite picts are the first one, I think that’s so darling, and when I have children I want a picture just like this – I will be contacting you when the time comes! And I love the picture with your little boy and his little tiny baby tongue sticking out a little bit! Melt my heart. Did I mention baby onesies are my favorite! I also love the one where they are each on their own pillow Who am I kidding? They are all great!

I don’t feel 30.
I don’t know what I expected… well actually I do.
I thought I would be more mature.. or feel more mature I guess.
I thought I would feel older, and have less wrinkles then I do.
I thought I would know all the answers to questions that my kids ask me.
Heck, I thought I would be done having kids (we still have 1 to go).
I’ve experienced so much in the last 3 decades.
Good and Bad both, I’ve experinced more then I thought I would at this age.
But with all that said. I’m just grateful to be 30!
To experience my crazy life with my dear husband and my 3 sweet little saplings.
They are my joy and I’m just lucky to be their mom.
Here’s to the next 30!

After photographing the birth of sweet little Quincy 2 years ago, I couldn’t wait to have another baby and have the birth professionally photographed. I’m just lucky to have the most amazing friend and photographer Emily Murdock who did such an incredible job of capturing this special day for us.
